While being home and away from university for summer I’ve been trying to keep myself busy with all the free hours I now suddenly have. So I’ve given myself the mission of clearing out my room as I’m a self-proclaimed hoarder and somehow manage to make an emotional connection to any object I am given or buy. During this mission, I came across my A-Level Art books and pieces from my Art foundation that I thought would be nice to share and document. During A-Levels I mainly produced painting however there are some other multimedia pieces as well.
I can admit that my artwork is a little strange. I take a lot of inspiration from Surrealism. For those who don’t know, Surrealism is an art and literature movement which began in the early 1920s. Surrealism is influenced by the unconscious mind and dreams. Surrealism takes features of the everyday, which usually goes unnoticed, as everyday life is repetitive and falls beneath our notice. These features are then distorted in usual ways which make them stand out, thus making us more aware of features within everyday life. Despite no longer practising Art I learnt a lot about Surrealism on my current university course and find it so interesting.
So, here are some of my favourite pieces I produced from the ages of 16 to 19:
People & Bodies

The Truth & Rawness of Meat

Miscellaneous studies

Foundation Art collages

I'm hoping to find some motivation to get back into Art sometime soon but haven't produced anything for the past 2 years now. However, I hope you have enjoyed or been inspired by some of these pieces.
